AGAINST A CROOKED SKY - 1975, 89 Mins, Color Starring: Richard Boone, Stewart Peterson, Geoffrey Land, Jewel Blanch, Henry Wilcoxon, Clint Ritchie Synopsis: The oldest daughter of a pioneer family is kidnapped by an Indian tribe. Her brother pursues the tribe, and convinces an old drunken prospector to come with him. They finally find the tribe, but the boy must undergo dangerous tests of courage and stamina in order to regain custody of his sister.
THE MISSOURI TRAVELER - 1958, 105 Mins, Color Starring: Brandon De Wilde, Lee Marvin, Gary Merrill, Mary Hosford, Paul Ford Synopsis: 15-year-old orphan Biarn Turner (De Wilde) struggles to survive in the rural South in the 1910's. He arrives in a small town where crusty small-town newspaper editor Doyle Magee (Merrill) decides to take the boy in and give him a chance at a regular life. Wealthy local farmer Tobias Brown (Marvin) also takes an interest in Biarn's future, but treats the young man cruelly, masking Tobias' real hidden feelings of affection and genuine concern. Biarn also proves his worth by training racehorses for the climactic annual horse race.
THE NEW ADVENTURES OF HEIDI - 1978, 98 Mins. Color Starring: Katy Kurtzman, Burl Ives, John Gavin, Marlyn Mason, Sherrie Wills, Sean Marshall Synopsis: The long-familiar Heidi tale is given a contemporary setting, with the young heroine being forced to leave her beloved grandfather and her familiar Swiss mountain for the bright lights of Manhattan, where she lives with hate-filled relatives. Heidi slowly wins over her relatives.
